Beauty
Stone brings out the natural beauty of any landscape. Natural materials should always be the first choice for the exterior. Some stones or rocks in the garden will certainly look good and will contribute to a more natural appearance. From the terrace, stairs, paths, fences until the mini swimming pool, fountain or sculpture, stone is certainly a very interesting material with which you can decorate your garden.
Versatility
There is so much that can be done with stone. Stone is used for home improvement, remodeling and new construction for fireplaces, chimneys, wood stove surrounds, posts, and stone veneer projects. Large stones are perfect for engraved monuments and stone signs, stone benches, stone pillars, capstones and riprap.
Functionality
Stone is not only beautiful, it’s also functional. A stone pathway can combine the natural look of stone with as much functionality as a concrete path. A stone fireplace makes for a much neater and easier-to-maintain outdoor experience. Pretty much whatever you want to build for your landscape, from walls, steps, patios, and more, you can do it with stone and not lose any functionality.
Sustainability
Even with all the modern technology of today, preventing erosion with river rocks and larger rocks, known as rip rap, is a common and effective practice. Rip rap & river rocks are effective in erosion prevention because they prevent the soil or sand from being cut away by the sweeping action of the water. Rip rap differs from river rock in size and material, although their end purpose of erosion prevention is the same. Rip rap is usually larger in size, roughly hewn, and made of granite or marl, whereas river rocks are smaller and smooth on all sides. Both materials are usually laid on top of a special sheet of material that will prevent the underlying soil from washing away.
